I) Transforming Retired Courier Uniforms into Thoughtful Keepsakes
Client: FedEx, a global transportation company
Project: Upcycling retired courier uniforms into sustainable gifts
Deliverables: Neck pillows, gadget pouches, and travel accessories
Years: 2021-2025
Our Approach
Recognising the rich history embedded in each uniform, we meticulously deconstructed the garments, preserving distinctive elements such as logos and badges, and washed them. Our crafters then transformed these materials into:
Ergonomic neck pillows for comfort during travel
Durable gadget pouches for everyday use
Multi-purpose travel accessories
Each item was designed to serve as a practical keepsake, reflecting the company's appreciation for its employees' service.
Impact of Projects with FedEx:
Sustainability: In March 2021, FedEx Express announced its goal to achieve carbon-neutral global operations by 2040. The company has been focused on its sustainability efforts following a “Reduce, Replace, Revolutionise” approach. The projects with Mori transformed 300 retired shirts into 200 versatile gadget pouches and 200 neck pillows
Employee Recognition: Provided personalised gifts that celebrate the contributions of the workforce.
Brand Values: Reinforced the company's commitment to environmental responsibility and employee appreciation.
II) Giving Retired Nurse Uniforms a Second Life
Client: Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital, Singapore
Project: Upcycling retired nursing uniforms into tote bags for fundraising at Community Care Day
Deliverables: Reversible Patchwork Tote Bags, a signature Mori creation
Year: 2025
Our Approach
Every uniform carries a story — of years of service, long hours, and deep human connection.
At Mori, we preserved those stories by reimagining the retired uniforms into:
Patchwork Design on one side of the tote to pair the original uniform fabrics one by one into 9 squares per tote bag on each side
Reversible Tote with minimalist plain design on other side so user can choose to carry patchwork side or minimalist side
Keepsake design that blended sentimentality with everyday practicality. The tote can be used as shopping bag.
Each piece was handmade by our mother crafter.
Impact of Project with Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital:
Sustainability in Action: Diverted textile waste by creatively repurposing existing materials into 50 tote bags
Meaningful Fundraising: Multiplication of social and environmental impact by repurposing materials, contributing livelihood to Mori mother crafter, and raising funds for hospital
Useful Keepsake: Repurposed materials into useful and practical bags
