How We Started And Grow

    Two Women From Different Lands

Mitzi Uy of Manila, Philippines, traded a budding marketing career for a journey of self-discovery. Armed with her Bible and journal, she began crafting journals and invented the Pursebook—a fusion of notebook and purse. She and her house help began making Pursebooks at home, selling them online through Facebook. Demand quickly outpaced supply. With the support of local livelihood projects, Mitzi empowered women from impoverished Manila communities by teaching them to sew, creating income opportunities.

Rachel Lin, from a humble background in Singapore, overcame challenges to graduate from the National University of Singapore with a degree in Business. Thankful for a good education and career opportunities, she was motivated to equip the underprivileged with skills and opportunities for sustainable livelihoods. In 2015, she started her first social venture Matcha5 and met Mitzi online.

Despite initial concerns about job creation for mothers, they found solace in trusting God and His plans. Bonding over their shared dream to combat poverty through meaningful employment and innovative products, a deep friendship was forged. The partnership between the two for Mori Official was birthed in 2018.

    Empowering More Mothers

In 2020, Rachel's long-time friend Miranda returned to Singapore from overseas. After homeschooling her two toddlers, she developed a passion for creating fun and engaging pieces for parents and kids.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, Miranda struggled to find a job and faced challenges during interviews, including questions about childcare and overtime. This led to discussions about collaborating on Mori Mummy and Kids products.

Miranda now finds fulfilment in supporting Mori's mission to bring joy to children and parents while supporting other mothers.

    Growing Communities

When Mori first started, most mothers sewed from home to care for their children. Over the years, with increased demand, we've expanded into new communities, adapting our work modes to suit local and business needs—whether it's sewing from home, gathering in a central location, or setting up a workshop.

Our flexibility ensures that women can work in the way that best fits their lives while meeting market demands. We've even expanded to include a mother in Singapore who has a special needs son; she handles packing and personalisations.

Our team has grown, now including Joanna, who does performance marketing and Megan, a Gen-Z who does all things social! Together, we blend experience and innovation to empower women and drive our mission forward.

is a variant name of Moriel which means 'God teaches'.

"Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them.
And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?"
Matthew 6:26-27
